40 mm pond hosetail (40 mm barb (to 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" BSP))

Used on: high-flow pumps, large gravity filters and waterfall returns on 40 mm hose.

40 mm is the large pond hose size for high-flow returns. A 1 1/4 inch BSP female thread is roughly 42 mm across and can reduce down internally to accept 32, 25 or 20 mm hose, so one threaded port often serves several hose sizes through stepped hosetails.

Quick-connect click fittings from Hozelock, Gardena and Karcher are proprietary and do not interchange. They all sit on top of a standard thread underneath, so the reliable way to move between brands is to adapt at the threaded tap or hose-end fitting, then use each brand's own connector above it.
