3/4 NPSH and GHT are both 3/4 inch straight hose threads but at different pitches, 14 versus 11.5 TPI, so they do not interchange. An NPSH-to-GHT adapter joins a utility or appliance hose to a garden hose fitting.
The two look the same size, which is the trap. The pitch difference means an NPSH coupling cross-threads onto a GHT fitting; use the adapter.
