A tapered R3/4 BSP male (common on pumps and manifolds) reaches a garden hose through a BSP-to-GHT adapter. The BSP end seals on the thread with PTFE tape; the GHT end seals on a washer. Two different sealing methods on one part, so fit it in the right order.

Tape the tapered BSP end only. Never put tape on the GHT washer end; it stops the washer seating and causes the leak it was meant to prevent.
